Havaalanları Yer Hizmetleri A.Ş. (HAVAS), The first Ground Handling Services Company of Turkey, was established by the State in 1933 to provide ground handling services and catering services. In 1987, Catering service of the company was separated and privatized under the name of USAS, and the ground handling services continued its operations under the name of Ground Handling C.O.
During the privatization scope, Havas’s shares were purchased by Ciner Group in April 1995. Later, Swissport acquired 40% shares of Havas and became its shareholder and this partnership of Ciner Group, 60%, and Swiss port 40% continued until July 2005. The interests of foreign investors to Havas, one of the major companies of Turkey, had continued. In July 2005, TAV Airports Holding, the leader of Turkish Civil Aviation, who constructs and operates many airport terminals, bought Ciner Group’s Havas shares (60%) and Havas became a TAV-Swissport partnership. Developments in the share structure of Havas is not limited with those; right after the new structuring, Swissport transferred the shares he own to Ciner Group and again Havas became a TAV-Ciner Group partnership.
This partnership continued successively until November 2007, and following the decision of Ciner Group to withdraw from aviation sector, and sales of his 40% shares to TAV Holding, Havas became a service company fully owned by TAV Airports Holding.
Showing due care to continue its assertive attitude in the Ground Services sector, Havas is determine to continue its existence in this industry as a world class ground handling services company with its service quality, equipment park and technological infrastructure. The company is awarded with “4 Crown”, the second biggest award of KLM Royal Dutch Airlines, in 2002 and with “5 Crown” in 2004. The same year it was also announced as “World’s Best Ground Service Organization” by First Choice airways for its services in Dalaman, and elected as “World's 2nd Best Ground Service” for its services in Bodrum. And in 2007, our Izmir station received “Excellence” award from SAS Norge Airports.
Our company received “Best Privatization” Certificate from Privatization Administration in 31 August 2000 and British Airways indicated our company within top 3 ground-services company it received from all over the world. Again in 2004, International German Quality Certification Institution TÜV announced Havas as “Ground Service Organization with Best Operating Quality Management System of the World”.
HAVAŞ renders ground handling services in 18 airports totally; İstanbul, Ankara, İzmir, Adana, Antalya, Bodrum, Dalaman, Gaziantep, Trabzon, Kayseri, Konya, Şanlıurfa, Sivas, Adıyaman, Muş, Elazığ, Batman and Nevşehir .
For better, qualified and quick services to customer companies Havaş provides İmport Warehouse service with 700 ton/day capacity.
Besides Havaş operates Hopa Passenger Terminal which enables citizens living in eatern blacksea region to travel easily to Batum İnternational Airport that is operated by TAV Airport Holding.
Havaş operates passenger transportation shuttle services from the airport to the city center with same comfortable buses in İstanbul Atatürk and Sabiha Gökçen, Ankara, İzmir, Antalya, Bodrum, Dalaman, Malatya, Samsun and Şanlıurfa. Moreover Havaş operates a carpark service in Bodrum airport.
Organized to meet all needs of an airways in terms of the ground services it receives from the airports it uses, major services of Havas are passenger and baggage, unit loading vehicles control, ramp, aircraft cleaning, load control and communication, cargo, flight operation, transport, representation and monitoring services as defined within the scope of IATA Ground Services Agreement.
Havas, a member of International Air Transport Association (IATA), in line with its policy of providing high quality service, received ISO 90021994 quality certificate in September 2000 at all stations it provides service, and in January 2003 it adopted ISO 9001:2000 standards.
Havaş increases service quality by getting Occupational Health and Safety OHSAS 18001 certificate in İstanbul, Ankara,Bodrum,Dalaman,Gaziantep, Adana, Trabzon, Kayseri, Nevşehir, Antalya stations and İstanbul Warehouse and ISO 14001 Environmental Management Certificate in Bodrum, Dalaman, Adana and Antalya Stations.
Today Havas has a privileged customer portfolio consisting of more than 200 regular and charter airways whose names are associated with quality. Aiming to always improve its service quality and customer satisfaction, Havas, aware of being an important and responsible service provider of airways it provides service at the airports, is organized in a way to convey the service understanding and commercial policies of these airways to its passengers, one-to-one, and provides a personnel training to ensure such services. Havas also offers passenger transport services between Ankara, Antalya, Bodrum, Hatay, Istanbul, Izmir, Malatya, Samsun and Sanliurfa airports to the city center by buses with the same comfort of airway transport.
